Description: This is an ongoing class that meets weekly. Class is designed for those who have some soft pastel experience. Students will learn through demo, practice, constructive and kind critique and individual hands-on assistance. Students are encouraged to bring in work they have been working on but need some assistance or want a critique. Teacher will demo quick techniques, continue discussions about the major painting components and offer much one-on-one assistance. The class is structured as an ongoing workshop.
Bring to class: Reference photo of choice, paper, your pastels and any other usual supplies
For students who do not have their own pastels and paper, you can use teachers supplies for a $20 fee.

WET FELTED FLOWERS

Felt Flowers make gorgeous brooches (pins), can be sewn to a headband or attach a ponytail band. They make great gifts. Each student will create 2 flowers. There will be examples and instructions on several different types (see photo) and you can either create two different flowers or two of the same. There will be many colors of wool to choose from. You will be supplied with beads and a pin to take home to finish when it is dry. This is a great introduction to wet felting a simple, beautiful and useful item.

Relax and decompress with simple lines and color. We will pull from a couple recent trends to make neurographic artworks. This art form is very relaxing and can be regenerative. We will use various markers and colored pencils on paper. The teacher will demonstrate the basic processes and talk a little about the potential benefits of this type of artwork. You will then have most of the class time to create your own art with support from the teacher as needed. Please note that the teacher is NOT a trained therapist and this is not a therapeutic class. It is intended for simple fun and relaxation. The class atmosphere will be fun, inclusive and supportive.

Mixed Media really allows your creativity to shine. There are NO rules. We will each create a mixed media piece while learning about and experimenting with various acrylic gels, pastes, mediums and techniques. We will use wood, natural materials, sand, stones, fabrics, fibers, small pieces of found metals as well as acrylic paints and pastels to create one of a kind art works to hang anywhere in your house or give as a gift. Come and play with other creative’s and learn about acrylic mediums in a fun filled, experimental and supportive atmosphere. If you have any found objects (small metal pieces or jewelry finds, etc.) or harvested natural items like grasses, reeds, pinecones, recycled objects, etc., that you want to incorporate into your artwork, please bring them along.

Beyond Acrylic Pouring (Fluid Art)

Description: We will be going a bit beyond the basics in this class to learn to control our pours and use various tools such as hair dryer and airbrush machine (just air) or cans of air to obtain a more predictable (?) outcome. This is a great class for those who have taken the pouring class and want to further explore fluid acrylics and is also fine to take if you are new to fluid acrylics. Teacher will discuss color theory, demo and explain various techniques and provide plenty of time to create 1 or 2 finished paintings. You will have to pick up your finished painting the next day (or later if you need to) in order for them to dry laying flat. You will have a choice of a few different sizes of canvas. The class atmosphere will be one of fun, comfortable, supportive, learning and experimentation.
